This Earth Day, millions of Americans will be talking about…

  • Water and air pollution
  • Species extinction
  • Suburban sprawl
  • Deforestation
  • Climate change
  • Energy shortages
  • Natural resource depletion
  • Greenhouse gas emissions

…but can you think of any environmental problem that improves by adding more people to it?

NPG works to educate all Americans regarding the catastrophic effects of population growth on our nation’s environment, resources, and overall quality of life. More people put even more strain on our already overburdened ecosystem…

…and many scientists agree that no amount of recycling, carpooling, reducing consumption, “green” technology, or “smart growth” will EVER be enough to reduce the impact of our population growth on our environment. Think about it!

U.S. population is currently more than 323 million people, and we are growing by an average of one person every 15 seconds – over two million people per year. Even if we used every available method of conservation, we would never make up the difference of that many more consumers. (And remember – in America, we still consume resources at much higher rates.)

NPG advocates non-coercive, voluntary policies which would slow, halt, and eventually reverse U.S. population growth – so that we can reach a smaller, truly sustainable size. Our goal is a population size that can preserve a strong, livable American environment for future generations!
