In a recent article appearing on the website World Net Daily (www.wdn.com), former Congressman Tom Tancredo praises the efforts of sitting Congressman Lamar Smith for introducing H.R. 1264.  If passed, the Legal Workforce Act would require all employers in the country to use the federal E-Verify program to confirm the legal status of employees and applicants.  Tancredo points out that the current program only detects the submission of fake Social Security numbers, but it does not assist in finding those using a real number fraudulently.

U.S. population has grown by over 100 million new residents since 1970, and we are projected to reach nearly 450 million by mid-century if present trends continue.  Immigration, both legal and illegal, is the driving force behind this growth.  To this end, NPG has long-advocated for greatly reduced immigration levels of not more than 200,000 annually.
NPG recognizes that many illegal immigrants enter the U.S. with the hope of finding gainful employment, but we firmly believe that our nation cannot simply allow anyone who wishes to cross our border to do so with no regard for our laws.  Requiring employers to verify an applicant’s or employee’s legal status would serve as a huge detriment to the flow of illegal aliens into this country and ultimately help the United States achieve a smaller, truly sustainable population level.

We encourage you to read Congressman Tancredo’s article, and to contact your Congressman to state your support of this new bill and to ask him or her to vote YES to help protect the future of our nation.
