President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW
Washington, DC 20500-001

Dear Mr. President:

As you well know, America’s looming population crisis is as threatening to our nation’s future as our current debt crisis.

That is why it is very unfortunate that our elected leaders have reached a political stalemate in recent years when it comes to moving forward on the immigration issue and passing responsible reforms related to both legal and illegal immigration.

Yet, Mr. President, that impasse does not give you the green light to act unilaterally and dictate totally new immigration policy without the express consent and approval of Congress.

As the head of Negative Population Growth (NPG) I know I speak for millions of concerned Americans in condemning the recent internal memorandum by John Morton, Director of the Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on “Exercising Prosecutorial Discretion” related to immigrant deportation.  Our organization, with thousands of members, does not condone this new policy which does an end-run around Congress and can expand to become a de facto “amnesty” program for millions of illegal aliens presently in our country.

I am sure that you can understand how immigration enforcement without deportation is toothless.  Congress imposes limits on immigration for sound demographic, fiscal and economic national interests, and backs them up with deterrents such as deportation for those that disregard those limits.  By seriously watering down our deportation enforcement procedures you basically invite others who wish to enter our country illegally to do so without fear of punishment.

I have included with this letter a recent statement I issued on this topic.  I urge you and all White House policymakers to review it and hopefully once again put some real “teeth” into our nation’s rules related to deporting all who have broken our laws to enter our country.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely,
