Asserts that Rigorous Deportation Program is Essential Element in an Effective Immigration Policy
Alexandria, VA (June 19, 2012) – Negative Population Growth (NPG) President Donald Mann forcefully denounced the Obama Administration’s new policy that will immediately stop deportations and start granting work permits for hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants now in the U.S.
Mann criticized President Obama’s actions as a major setback toward responsible immigration reform by stating: “Rather than taking the long overdue steps to make clear to one and all that there is a real consequence – namely deportation – to violating our nation’s immigration laws, the White House is enacting a far-reaching policy that is vague on details and will only create even more havoc and overload in our present dysfunctional immigration system.”
NPG joined with other organizations and elected leaders who stressed that in effecting this radical policy change to present immigration laws, President Obama is doing an end run around Congress; going against the wishes of hard-pressed American taxpayers who are demanding stronger – rather than weaker – immigration laws; and giving the green light to illegals who will now be able to compete with citizens and legal residents for very scarce jobs.
Mann noted: “One of my greatest worries is that no one seems to have a real grip on how many illegals will fall under the broad guidelines presented by this new order. Initial estimates put the figure at 800,000 while both the Migration Policy Institute and the Pew Research Center put it at 1.4 million. The reality is that we are talking about “undocumented persons.” “Undocumented” is the key word. No legitimate paperwork exists as to when those eligible for this new policy came into the country – it could have been years ago or yesterday. The potential for massive fraud is alarming.” He added: “My other fear is that while this measure is supposed to be ‘temporary’ it will never be rescinded and become another major factor in speeding up our already out-of-control population growth.”
Mann continued: “President Obama’s actions are an insult to representative government and should sound the alarm for everyone who considers American citizenship sacred. A president unilaterally dictating immigration policies and passive legislators failing to aggressively assert their authority to counter his action does not bode well for responsible immigration control in the future.”
Negative Population Growth, celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year, is a non-profit membership organization which works to educate the American public and our elected leaders regarding the devastating effects of immigration-driven population growth on our nation’s environment, resources and quality of life.
World population, now over 7.3 billion, is predicted to rise to 9 billion by 2050, an increase of almost two billion, or 23%, in the short space of only 34 years from now.In the highly unlikely event that per capita greenhouse gas emissions could possibly be decreased by an equal percentage in such a short space of time (a blink of an eye) the total amount of worldwide emission would remain the same!
From this simple illustration it would appear that without drastically reducing the size of world population, there is no solution to the problem.None at all.So then why do our world leaders pretend that there is one? What is to be gained by pretending rather than by proposing a solution that would solve the problem – a reduction in the size of world population to not more than 1- 2 billion?
