Alan Kuper, Ph.D., president of CUSP (Comprehensive US Sustainable Population)
has written one of the best critiques I have seen with regard to the disastrous
immigration bill (S.2611) the Senate passed in May, with little or no
regard for the national interest.
CUSP (www.uscongress-enviroscore.org) is a non-profit, non-partisan, national membership environmental organization that advocates U.S. population numbers consistent with a long-term sustainable economy, optimal from an eco-centric point of view. (06/26/06) - Immigration Reform - NPG Comments: An article published
on June 18th in The Washington Post titled "Along Part of the Border, A Zero-Tolerance Zone," describes
a program we have long maintained is essential to stop illegal immigration:
aggressive enforcement of the laws already on the books. Those laws make
first time illegal entry without inspection a misdemeanor subject to up
to six months in jail, and illegal entry after prior removal a felony
subject to up to two years in jail. We recommend that the program described,
now in effect along part of the Mexican border, be applied to the entire
U.S. border, and to interior enforcement as well. To read the entire article, click here.

(06/22/06) - Immigration Reform - NPG
Comments: We fully support the view that border and interior enforcement
must be put into effect and proven to be successful before even considering
any other aspects of immigration reform. We are happy to note that The
Hudson Institute has released an open letter from prominent conservative
and civic leaders declaring that "border and interior enforcement
must be funded, operational, implemented, and proven successful -- and
only then can we debate the status of current illegal immigrants, or the
need for new guest worker programs." To read the letter click here.
